Supreme Show Qualifications

To qualify for entry to the Supreme Show a cat must first win at a GCCF Championship Show.

      Adults

Entire Adults (un-neutered cats nine months old or over) must win a Challenge Certificate at a GCCF Show if they are adult by 1st June (the start of the GCCF Show season).

Cats born on or after 1st September can qualify by winning an Open kitten class at a GCCF Championship show.

      Kittens

Kittens (cats under nine months old) must win their Open class at a GCCF Championship show.

      Neuters

Adult Neuters (neutered cats nine months old or over) must win a Premier Certificate (or a Challenge Certificate before they were neutered) at a GCCF Championship show if they are nine months old by 1st June.

If they are still kittens on 1st June they can qualify by winning an Open kitten class.

Winning a certificate at a GCCF Championship show qualifies the cat for the Supreme for life so cats with titles are qualified even if they are neutered after gaining their title.

      New Breeds

Breeds which do not have Championship status can still qualify for the Supreme Show.

Provisional Status breeds qualify by winning an Intermediate Certificate instead of a Challenge or Premier Certificate.

Preliminary status breeds (the first stage of official recognition of a breed) have Assessment classes instead of Open classes; each cat is judged individually against its Standard of Points and, if deemed of sufficient quality, is awarded a Merit Certificate. This certificate qualifies the cat for the Supreme Show. Kittens also qualify by winning a Merit Certificate, but certificates won as kittens do not qualify for life.

Intermediate or Merit Certificates still count as qualifications for the Supreme even if the breed has moved up to Championship status.

Breeds which are not yet recognised by the GCCF cannot compete but are allowed on exhibition provided they are registered with the GCCF.

      Non-Pedigree Cats

These cats have their own section at the Supreme Show. They can qualify by winning their Open class in the Non-Pedigree section of a GCCF Championship show. (In the past they could also qualify by winning a heat of the Whiskas Non-Pedigree Household Cat Stakes, now discontinued).

All of the area club shows and most of the specialist breed shows have a section for non-pedigree cats, so you should be able to find a show near you in which you can enter your cat and try to qualify.

Please send your entry in for any cat you have already qualified and ask for (or download) an additional entry form for other cats you hope to qualify between now and the closing date.
