The Best of Variety Siamese Adult & Supreme Adult was Supreme UK Grand Champion Tabbra Bon Chance, a Chocolate Tabby Point Siamese Male owned by Liz Myles "Sam" is the fifth Tabby Point Siamese Supreme Adult, three of whom have been Chocolate Tabby Points. Quite an achievement for the breed. | | "Sam the Man"was from the last litter that Foxtwist Fern and Gr Ch Tabbra Oneinamillion (Michael) produced - both were neutered afterwards. Liz had never wanted a cat at stud: Michael had just happened, and after the experience of trying to keep a cat outside when he only wanted to live in the house - and usually succeeded - Liz thought there was no way she was going to have another entire male. | | Being no fool, Liz knew that Sam was special but, like other special kittens before him, if a good home came along he was going. Following an enquiry, Sam was as good as sold, but Liz's husband Melvin persuaded her to keep him, at his expense: he has paid all Sam's vet and show fees, built him a new stud house and taken them both to shows whenever work permitted. Sam has achieved more than even Liz thought possible and she feels privileged to own and have bred such a beauty. A lot of his show success is due not only to his good looks and balance, but his wonderful temperament: he is just an old softie, the perfect showman, loving all the fuss and attention. At his very first show he came straight out for the steward, asking for a cuddle, and has been the same ever since. |
photos by Alan Robinson | | Showing Sam has not been easy; he is a typical mischievous, inquisitive Siamese, poking his nose into everything that does not concern him. He is very accident prone: days before a show he always managed to acquire an injury of some kind. Once it was a bee sting, another time it was stud tail - the list is endless and it is a wonder he ever made it to most shows. Vetting in became a nightmare in case he had acquired some injury on the way, or developed a lump on his neck after a booster vaccination. | | However, he did manage to attend all the shows where he was entered and had a super show career: after making Champion he achieved Grand in three consecutive shows and has been Best in Show 6 times, including 2 overall BIS as well as Supreme Adult. Liz is very proud of him and says he has certainly made all the hard work, heartbreak, tears and expense of 17 years' breeding worthwhile. |
 | Rosjoy Riffraff, a Blue-Cream Colourpoint Female owned by Mrs J E Hobson and bred by Mrs J R Pickford, was Best of Variety Persian Kitten
