| | | | Best of Variety Persian Kitten, Supreme Kitten and Supreme Exhibit was Amoramist Whos Gorgeous, Chocolate Tabby Colourpoint male, owned and bred by Maureen Holden-Ritchie Maureen says it all started on his arrival into the world; as she held him in her hands at birth and looked at the tiny little bundle she said out loud 'Oh, who's gorgeous' so the name stuck from that day. She did actually offer him for sale but the potential purchaser sent back the photos, saying the price was too high and he wasn't quite what he wanted - thank goodness. So Maureen decided to keep 'Tigger' and see how he would do in the show world. left - Tigger at 3 weeks old |
| He won his Open class and a shield at his first show so she entered him for the Supreme, just to see if he could repeat his success at his second show ... and he was Supreme Exhibit! It was with considerable angst that Tigger was entered for his first adult show, but Maureen need not have worried - he won his Certificate and Best of Breed at his first three adult shows and, at the Kernow show where he made up to Champion, was awarded a special rosette for being a very special Cornish cat. Maureen is also delighted that Tigger's sire, her Shou Romanoff, has now made Champion too. |
| Tigger, perhaps not the most original name for a cat, got his name because when he plays he actually bounces around like the character in Winnie the Pooh, he rarely walks, it's as if his legs are on springs. He loves playing with his ball which has open weaves on it; he picks it up and carries it around with him, often bringing it to be thrown for him to fetch. At Christmas he took a fancy to a gold silk bow off a present: this is now his comforter and he carries it round everywhere - woe betide if he can't find it! |
| Unfortunately Tigger appears to have an identity crisis about his sexuality - when Maureen has kittens he thinks they are actually his, not in the paternal role, but in that he thinks he is their mother and tries to feed them. With a litter of demented Maine Coon kittens runing amok, Tigger, despite having his ears boxed more than once by a distraught Maine Coon mother, insists on dragging the kittens into his favourite corner to clean and feed them. They in turn just want to play and you can almost hear the little cogs whirring in his brain as he tried to fathom out precisely why they won't comply and, more importantly, why their feisty tornado of a mother keeps giving him 'what for'! | |

photo by Marc Henrie | Tigger is a darling, loved by one and all when they meet him. Washing is not one of his favourite pastimes - when he has his face washed he proceeds to put his face down into the carpet and run along the pile to dry it off. He tolerates bath times reasonably well until he thinks he's finished, which may not be when Maureen thinks he's finished, then wails - a racket that can be heard round the neighbourhood! He seems to enjoy the hair dryer but is rather touchy about having his tail and nether regions attended to - so perhaps there is hope yet for his aforementioned identity crisis! | | Tigger does have an attitude if he feels his 'street cred' is being called into question - such as when he attempts a death defying leap of some six inches from chair to chair and misses, or falls off the back of the settee when asleep - he will first look to see if Mureen has noticed and, if comment is made about his inadequate areodynamic properties, he will turn his back on her, his ears will go down flat and he will lie down and sulk! right - Tigger at 1 year old

Best of Variety British Adult Grand Champion Brocklair Brocade British Tortoiseshell female bred and owned by Stephanie Harrison-Croft
seen above in familiar pose |
| Born in February 1999 from a magical litter along with her siblings Ch Brocklair Bebopalula and Ch Brocklair Dan Dare, Brocade has had a glittering show career to date, winning her first Best of Breed at the age of 15 weeks and gaining her Grand Title at the Supreme at 21 months. In total she has won 2 Best of Variety, 3 Grands, 7 CCs, 16 Best of Breeds and no less than 45 firsts including many red card days. She was Our Cats/Whiskas top British kitten in 1999 followed by her sister. | photo left by Alan Robinson
photo right at 6 months old | | | Brocade is an extremely gentle girl and when she was born it was 'awe' at first sight. She loves to pose, likes to hide under blankets, eats like a trooper and has a strange aversion to photographs, chewing them whenever she can. Feather toys are a must in her life. Also known to her friends as Polly, Brocade is a pleasure to own and Stephanie considers herself very honoured! |
| | Best of Variety Burmese Adult Grand Champion Beannocht Sioda Chocolate Burmese female owned and bred by Alison & Bruce Lauchlan |
| Winning her open & Best of Variety at the Supreme made Sioda up to a Grand Champion and of course Alison and Bruce are very proud of her achievement. Only two weeks previously she won Best in Show Burmese at the Cheshire Area Cat Club show.
(photos above and left by Alan Robinson) | | | | Apart from the usual Burmese traits of dragging clothes & underwear around and investigating any visitor's clothing, Sioda loves to bring little sponge balls to play fetch with ( a trait that she passes onto her
kittens) | | The correct pronunciation of her name is "show-the" and it means silk. |
| Best of Variety Semi-Longhair Kitten Royalcoon Floydd Brown Tabby Maine Coon male owned by Julie Ariss and bred by Pauline Powell |
| When Julie first saw Floydd she thought "Move over Mr. Spock, here comes Floydd!" His ears looked enormous! At his first kitten show Floydd came 2nd to a big 7 month monster Maine Coon and Julie thought "will he get that big one day?" Since then he has had 1st and BoB at every show that he's attended, with 6 BIS wins consecutively: West of England, Wyvern, South Western Counties, Cambria and The Supreme, followed by Best Exhibit at the National - a day before becoming an adult. | |
| Floydd is first and foremost a gentle giant family pet. He weighs in at over a stone and adores food, people and playing.
Julie guesses all this is beginners luck and of course a point in the right
direction from his breeder Pauline. |
| Best of Variety Semi-Longhair Neuter Premier Dairymaine Elvira Madigan Tortie Tabby Maine Coon female neuter owned by Julia Stimpson, bred by Mrs J M Haynes seen, left, at 10 weeks old
|
| Julia was totally stunned but very, very proud at Maddie's BOV win at the Supreme, although she seems to be following in her father's footsteps
(Gr Ch Kititas Leonardo Dicatprio was BOV Semi-Longhair Kitten in 1998) She now has a BIS SLH Kitten, a BIS Kitten, a BIS SLH Neuter and the Supreme BOV to her name and won her 1st Open with BOB at the tender age of 14 weeks & 1 day at the end of January 2000. She has won 9 out of her 10 Open classes, all with BOB where offered, and gained her title in three consecutive shows over 5 weeks.
| Maddie is very sweet and affectionate at home, almost wagging her tail like a dog when she greets Julia. She also likes to get up on to her shoulder for a better view of things - something of a painful experience when she hauls herself up from ground level (she weighs 13 lbs!!) but it's all worth it to hear that lovely deep purr next to Julia's ear. Her favourite toys are currently any piece of string as long as someone is willing to rush around with it, and numerous little white furry mice which she bats under Julia's bed just far enough to make their removal well nigh impossible without dislocating an arm!! |

| Best of Variety Siamese Neuter Grand Premier Loluja Sudden Impact Red Point Siamese male neuter owned by Richard & Mary White and bred by Geraldine Sidnell | |
| Mary and Richard say he has many habits, good and bad, but his worst is howling like a banshee, 10 times louder than their calling queens, when he feels he is not getting enough attention, which is 99.9% of the time. His best trick is that he will perform gambols on command for visitors! | |
| Best of Provisional Breeds Kitten Magnacata Mandarin Emperor Red Silver Shaded Tiffanie male owned and bred by Jennifer Ray
left - with his proud owner
| Jennifer says he is madly in love with himself, like all Tiffanies. She bred his father, Magnacata Moondust Mohawk; his mother, bred by Maura O'Rourke in Ireland, is Coomakista Nyree Dawn, sister of one of the most famous Tiffanies, Coomakista Marilyn Munro. | | But Jennifer says she's not sure that she can take credit for breeding Mandarin Emperor, though - Mohawk and Nyree did that while she wasn't looking. It's a mating she might have done, but not just then! Mohawk was a precocious kitten, to say the least. Jennifer's not complaining about his handiwork, though.... | |

| Best of Variety Burmese Neuter was Champion & Grand Premier Rossikhan Kings Ransom, owned and bred by Janet Wilshaw, who also owned the 1999 BOV Burmese Neuter 'Morris' was named Kings Ransom, not because it sounded nice, but because Janet knew from the moment he opened his eyes that she could never part with him. When her dear friend Anne Rickson judged him for the first time she wrote: "he is a treasure and if he were mine it would take a Kings Ransom to prise him away." Janet had no intention of keeping him entire - he was neutered at about 12 months old, although she did try him with a very willing female called Gr Ch Rossikhan Bon Ton but he didnt quite perfect his art before he was off to the vet for his op. That is the only thing about Morris that she wishes she could change - she would have dearly loved to have seen some 'Morrisettes' but it wasn't to be and she is more than satisfied with the result. People who know Burmese will tell you how openly affectionate and outgoing they are and they will make firm friends with a total stranger. But Morris, Janet likes to think, although genuinely friendly with everyone who visits them, just loves her so much more. It's as though her complete adoration of him is reciprocated. His win at the Supreme was particularly special as Janet's beloved UK Gr Ch & UK Gr Pr Rossikhan Hooray Henri had to be put to sleep on the Monday after the Show and she is convinced that Morris did his very best for her. |
| Best of Provisional Breeds Neuter was Loricha Midnite Cowboy, Black Silver Tabby Oriental Longhair (Angora) male neuter owned by Pippa Langston and bred by Sylvia Smith Known as Rio to his friends, or for some reason Uncle Riz, he first attracted Pippa's attention when on exhibition as a kitten. She fell in love with him, having previously only been owned by household pets and Siamese. After talking to lots of people about Angoras, the decision was made and Rio was taken home a week later! A little shy to start with, he soon took over centre stage in the house. Not only as it is impossible to ignore an Angora, however hard you may try, but because of his little, shall we say, 'lapses in concentration'! He's not the sharpest tool in the box and frequently worries Pippa by hanging by one paw from the bannister. He also climbs on top of the wardrobe and can't possibly get down without assistance! |
| However, having said that, he is the sweetest natured cat you could possibly hope to have, never stops purring and is just adorable! After not doing too well on the show bench as a kitten, he was neutered and really began to flourish - unbeaten in his open class as a neuter to date. When he won best Provisional Breeds Neuter Pippa was so shocked she couldn't stop shaking! Pippa says Rio is a pet first and foremost, and the showing success is just a bonus. | |
